Arch bridge

Germany

A steel arch bridge with a suspended bridge deck is an elegant and cost-optimized solution for rail and road crossings. Our tools allow their parameterization even under unfavourable geometric conditions

The newly planned overpass of a country road over the federal highway was designed as a single-span arch bridge. The span of the bridge (in the axis) is 60.1 m, and the width is 17.9 m. The axis of the crossing forms an angle of approximately 55 degrees with the highway. The arches, with a rise of approximately 8.00 m, are welded box sections measuring 750 x 830 mm. The main beams, designed as double T-profiles and 1650 mm high, are suspended from the arches by means of steel hangers with a diameter of 100 mm, spaced 6.00 m apart. An initial Superelevation of 90 mm was provided for the main beams. The roadway has cross slopes of 2.0 to 2.5% in both directions, which is why the cross girders are made of welded double T-sections with top chords of variable height. Due to the inclined position of the bridge, some cross girders are shorter and supported on one side by the inclined end cross girder.
